The Ruins

There are plenty of information plaques which explain the rich history behind this famous site. The ruins also have remarkable views over the surrounding rolling hills and the coastline below.
Visitor Centre & Museum
The Visitor Centre and Museum are full of exciting artefacts that tell the journey of Whitby Abbey through the ages. Here you’ll find a variety of objects such as Anglo-Saxon crosses, medieval manuscripts and even a signed copy of Bram Stroker’s ‘Dracula’, which was inspired by the gothic abbey. There is also a fantastic little coffee shop by the entrance of the museum where you can enjoy an assortment of refreshments. It’s the perfect place to refuel after a busy morning, before heading out to discover more of Whitby has to offer.
Family-Friendly Events
Whitby Abbey plays host to a range of exciting events throughout that year for families to enjoy and participate in. Such events include Viking battle re-enactments, falconry displays, walking tours, open-air theatre productions of Dracula and a variety of other seasonal activities.
Getting to Whitby Abbey
We can’t recommend a visit to Whitby Abbey enough – it really should be top of your holiday hit list during a stay at Whitby Holiday Park this year. The journey to Whitby Abbey only takes three minutes via Hawsker Lane from our holiday park – so you don’t have to travel far to enjoy this historic venue.
